Behaviour in Exams

  1. Make sure you have all the gear you will need. This includes – pens (including a spare), pencil, ruler, eraser, calculator, geometric equipment if needed.  This may also include paper if required. You will not be allowed to borrow. Do not take your study notes etc in with you.
  2. Go into the room quietly, sit down at your desk and organise yourself.
  3. Once you have entered the room exam conditions apply. Be silent – Do not tap rulers, click teeth etc, this can be distracting to others. Do not talk or otherwise communicate with other students (no signals, gestures etc.) Face the front. Do not turn around in your seat or "check out" other students. If you finish early these conditions still apply. Have a book to read or some scrap paper to do something quietly, draw, think about your next exam etc.
  4. Listen to any instructions given by the supervising teacher(s).
  5. Check you have the right exam paper,  and if asked, check through the paper.
  6. If you have a question, raise your hand and wait for the teacher to come to you. Speak to supervisor quietly.
  7. Make sure you have been to the toilet before the exam. You will not be allowed to go to the toilet during the exam.
  8. If your exam finishes earlier than others, leave only after instruction from the supervisor(s), and do so quietly without disturbing  other students.
  9. At the end of the exam follow the instructions of the supervising teacher(s) and remain silent and seated until all exams have been collected.  Leave quietly when told to do so.
  10. For internal school exams you may be allowed to leave your bags at the back of the hall.  For external exams they will not be allowed in the hall.
